Happy Halloween!

We had a fun weekend carving pumpkins, trick-or-treating and celebrating Nana's birthday. Below are several pictures.

Lake was convinced he could eat his pumpkin, and as usual, Harper joined in.

Harper with a mouth full of pumpkin.

Harper wasn't all about cleaning the pumpkin out.

"Are you sure we can eat this stuff Daddy?"

Lake didn't want to help clean the pumpkin out at first...

...but when get got the hang of it...

...he loved it!

"This is so gross and disgusting!"

The end result!

This year I started asking Lake what he wanted to be for Halloween the beginning of September so I would have plenty of time to come up with the perfect costume. He finally decided on a tiger. So, I found the perfect tiger costume and decided that Harper would be a butterfly. Well, we had a few issues with the tiger costume when it arrived 2 days before Halloween (so much for not waiting until the last minute). Knowing that I didn't have time to run all over Des Moines looking for a 4T tiger costume, I decided to get creative. I found an airplane costume on-line that we could make out of a cardboard box. Sounds cheesy, but it was our only option. Friday night we set out to get our supplies and found ourselves up late that night trying to make a cardboard box look like an airplane. It actually turned out really cute, and best of all...Lake loved it!
Last minute details the morning of Halloween.

Of course, Lake doesn't make anything easy, he decided he didn't want to wear the airplane when we set out to go trick-or-treating.

We finally talked him into it and off we went.

Flying from house to house. He made airplane noises everywhere we went.

Notice his pilot glasses. :)

My little butterfly.

Bray-Lynne came over later that night in her lady bug costume. I think they are saying to eachother, "have our parents lost their minds?"

Isaiah and Owen stopped at our house.

This is what happens when Nana's in charge.

  1. I love it! Only Nana gets by with this! It's like they knew it was something really special, "chocolate!"
